It’s time to Reconnect!

2020 contest offers dream prize exclusive to graduates

ST. JOHN’S, NL – Take a moment to think about what your trip of a lifetime would look like.

Would it take you to the sun and sand; on an action-packed sports trip, backpacking in Europe; or a family-friendly vacation to Disney World? To sweeten the deal, what would you think if you could pack your bags for the location of your choice for free?

If you’re one of the tens of thousands of College of the North Atlantic (CNA) alumni living and working around the globe, your dream trip can become a reality. For the fourth consecutive year, CNA has launched its annual Alumni Reconnect contest.

“CNA has a rich history of over 50 years serving the post-secondary needs of the province and beyond,” said Anna Peddle, CNA’s Manager of the Alumni and Advancement Office. “Our alumni are scattered all over the world doing wonderful things since their years with us at CNA, and we want to stay in touch. This annual contest lets us do that, and we want to reach even more this year. It’s so easy to enter the contest, and we are always excited to partner with TD Insurance to offer a fantastic prize to one lucky graduate!”

TD Insurance’s sponsorship once again allows this year’s winner to choose their destination. As part of CNA’s annual Alumni Reconnect campaign, graduates are invited to sign up and enter for a chance to win their trip of a lifetime anywhere in the world (see contest rules and regulations for any exceptions). It is also important to note that this contest is also open to graduates of CNA’s predecessor colleges: Cabot College, Eastern College, Central Newfoundland Community College, Westviking College, Labrador College, Fisher Technical College, Western Community College, District Vocational Schools, etc.

“Travelling the world is exciting, and simply by being a graduate of CNA and its preceding colleges over the years, we can help you reach those places on your bucket list,” said Peddle. “The Alumni and Advancement office is proud once again to offer this great trip, help you connect with friends, classmates and instructors and maintain a lifelong link to the college.”

Just ask Stef Janes of Gander. The 2018 Community Studies graduate was the 2019 Alumni Reconnect winner and she will cross off the number one item on her bucket list with a trip to the Maldives in April 2020.

“It’s a dream come true,” Janes said. “When I went back to school, my husband had to sacrifice a lot; the financial burden was fully on him and our budget no longer allowed for travel, so it’s nice that we now get to take this trip together. It’s funny that because I went back to school, we couldn’t afford to go anywhere, but because I went back to school, we won this crazy trip that we normally couldn’t afford to go on.”

Janes said entering the contest, or updating your existing contact information, is certainly worth your time.

Doing so doesn’t just enter your name into the contest; it provides numerous benefits to CNA alumni that you can take advantage of year-round. The college’s alumni office has access to excellent rates on home and auto insurance from TD Insurance, not to mention resources for reunion planning, discounts via Perkopolis, career supports, job findings, mentorship services, and much more.

“Our alumni are our success stories at CNA,” Peddle said.  “We want to be able to provide them with meaningful services and benefits and to offer ways to continue to enrich their lives. By entering our annual contest, you ensure we can reach you and you are able to avail of the benefits of being one of our graduates. We are excited to hear from you and help you stay connected with CNA.”

Other winners of the Alumni Reconnect travel contest include:
  • Sarah Johnstone of Mount Pearl, a 2013 graduate of the Business Management (Human Resource Management) program, who was the 2018 Reconnect winner and chose to go to Costa Rica; and,
  • Chante Goodyear of Grand FallsWindsor, a graduate of the Comprehensive Arts and Science Transfer program, who was the grand prize winner of a trip to New York in 2016-17.
