CNA graduates receive Governor General academic accolades

Medals awarded at Government House ceremony

ST. JOHN’S, NL – Fifteen College of the North Atlantic (CNA) alumni have the unique distinction of being awarded Governor General Academic Medals for their top academic performance in 2019.
 
On Friday, Oct. 4, the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Honourable Judy May Foote, along with His Honour Howard William Foote, hosted the Governor General’s Academic Medals ceremony at Government House in St. John’s.
 
The event was attended by 12 of the 15 award recipients; Bruce Hollett, CNA’s President & CEO; and, invited special guests. They all celebrated the achievements of CNA’s top students for the 2018-19 academic year.
The Governor General Academic medals were recently awarded to 15 CNA students – 12 of whom attended a ceremony at Government House in St. John’s. “The awards represent the exemplary performances of our students and the strong commitment of our faculty,” said Hollett. “We are proud to see our graduates receiving well-deserved recognition for their hard work, and these awards reflect the leadership and technical skills they have developed during their time with us. This will shape their future and lead to fulfilling careers. On behalf of CNA, our executive team and the Board of Governors, I congratulate them all.”

The medals were awarded to CNA graduates for achieving the highest overall average upon completion of their diploma-level program in 2019. Awarded since 1873, the Governor General’s Academic Medal is one of the most prestigious awards a student in a Canadian post-secondary educational institution can receive.

Here, Theon Fleming, originally from Antigua and his hometown being North Bay, ON, of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technician program at Gander campus was greeted by the Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Honourable Judy May Foote, along with His Honour Howard William Foote.
