Students at the Carbonear campus held a Stand Up to Bullying Day in February.

Community Studies students organized a Stand Up To Bullying day at the Carbonear campus on February 23, 2011.

The goal was to bring awareness to the issue of bullying and encourage people to find a way to stop it. With the support of their instructor, Sherry Quirke and Campus Administration Gary Myrden, the students wore pink shirts and invited other students to sign a large pink banner with their pledge against bullying.

The event was modelled on the example of Travis Price and David Shepherd, who stood up to bullies at their Nova Scotia high school by inspiring their schoolmates to wear pink in support of a fellow student who had been targeted for wearing a pink shirt.
