Entrepreneurship Competition

The Entrepreneurship competition is an opportunity for program participants to win financial support aimed to help accelerate the startup phase of their business in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Competitions are only open to students enrolled in a full-time program at College of the North Atlantic and are currently residing in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Expert Review & Finalist Selection

Applications for Entrepreneurship competition will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of program partner representatives. Selected finalists will be asked to deliver a five to seven-minute pitch either in person or via videoconference.

Live Pitch Finale

Finalists must be available to present their idea in person or via live videoconference.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is only open to students enrolled in a full-time program at College of the North Atlantic and are currently residing in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

 

To enter, students must meet the following requirements:

Students

Students must be currently enrolled in and be on track to successfully complete, or have already successfully completed, a full-time program at CNA.

Participants

Participants must be residents of, and currently residing in, the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Winners

Winning participants must be in good academic and financial standing with CNA before the prize money can be awarded. Failure to be in good standing will result in disqualification from the competition and the program.

Launch Business

Applicants must intend to launch their business in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Submission

Applications must be complete and must meet the requirements outlined in the application submission guidelines.

Reserves the right

The entrepreneurship competition reserves the right to extend the application period or change any of the dates mentioned as required at the program’s sole discretion.

Submission Guidelines

1. How to Enter

All applicants must submit the application requirements to the Program Coordinators listed below by midnight on DATE.

2. To compete in entrepreneurial competition, participants will need to submit the following:

  • A brief summary of your business idea (300 words or more)
  • A brief self-introduction or team introduction (150 words or more)
  • Upload or send a link to your pitch deck
  • Include a link to a pitch video (five-seven min max) (optional)

3. Your pitch deck should be 10-15 slides and include the following:

  • Title
  • Problem/Opportunity
  • Value Proposition (USP/UVP)
  • Business Model Canvas
  • Go-to-Market Plan
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Management Team or Structure
  • Financial Projections and Key Metrics
  • Current Status, Accomplishments to Date
  • Proposed Timeline
  • Proposed Use of Funding (if you win)

4. Remember to keep it simple:

  • Talk about the problem you’re solving
  • Move to the solution
  • Talk about how you’re going to execute it
  • And why YOU are the best person to do it
