Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is an integral member of the Customized and Continuous Learning (CCL) Department of College of the North Atlantic (CNA):
- Promote Customized and Continuous Learning services: promote CNA's training and continuing education services by identifying new opportunities, marketing to prospective clients, and supporting strategies that increase the College's visibility and engagement.
- Plan and deliver customized training: manage all phases of contract training-from initial inquiry to final delivery-ensuring cost-effectiveness, competitiveness, smooth logistics, and a high-quality learning experience.
- Conduct needs assessments and market research: identify client training needs, research industry and funding opportunities, and recommend training solutions that respond to market demand.
- Prepare proposals, budgets, and reports: prepare funding applications, training proposals, and budgets, and produce reports and documentation to support departmental decisions and operations.
- Develop strategic stakeholder relationships: build and maintain partnerships to identify training needs, coordinate services, and ensure programs meet current and emerging labour-market demands.
- Develop and deliver client presentations: prepare and deliver presentations to showcase CCL's training services and highlight their value and relevance to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with CNA campuses and departments: work with campuses to support program planning, delivery, and quality, ensuring alignment with College priorities.
- Other related duties as required: support departmental initiatives and emerging priorities in alignment with the goals of the Customized and Continuous Learning department.
Screening Criteria
- Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related discipline (equivalencies will be considered).
- Experience in business development, contract development, OR training coordination within a higher education or corporate environment.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of business development principles and practices.
- Knowledge of designing and delivering effective presentations.
- Knowledge of designing and delivering training.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Ability to manage time and tasks.
