CNA students show colours at Skills Canada

The 8th annual Provincial Skills Canada Competitions were held Friday, May 6, in St. John’s, with a very strong showing from College of the North Atlantic (CNA) students. They competed in 21 post-secondary competition categories, and walked away with 23 medals, including 13 Gold.

The Gold medal winners will now be part of Team Newfoundland and Labrador and will travel to Edmonton to compete in the Nationals on June 4 and 5.

Gold medal winners for College of the North Atlantic included: Melanie White, Ridge Road – Architectural CADD; Andrew Penney, Prince Philip Drive (PPD) – Autobody Repair; Gordon Baker, PPD – Automotive Service; Jessica Kenny, PPD – Baking; James Dillon, PPD – Cooking; Kevin Lewis, Ridge Road – Electronics; Geri Coady, PPD – Graphic Design; Mark Connors, Placentia – Industrial Mechanic Millwright; Glen Wilson, Seal Cove – Industrial Wiring; Tony MacLean, PPD – IT and Network Support; Sheila Tulk, PPD – IT Software Applications; Neal Mitchell, Ridge Road – Refrigeration; Stephen Mills, PPD – Welding.

Winning silver were: Lisa Vey, Ridge Road – Architectural CADD; Peter Butler PPD – Autobody Repair; Chris Petten, Seal Cove – Electrical Wiring; Darrell Keating, Ridge Road – Electronics.

Bronze medalists included: Adam Newhook, Ridge Road – Architectural CADD; John Hayes, PPD – Autobody Repair; Roxanne Harnett, Gander – Hairstyling; Trevor Parsons, Ridge Road – Mechanical CAD; Chesley Norman, PPD – Web Site Development; Shane Seymour, Port aux Basques – Welding.
