Trucking association donates to industry-related programs

The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association made a generous contribution of $5,000 to College of the North Atlantic as part of their Diesel Tooling Funding initiative on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The funds will go towards the purchase of tooling and equipment requirements at three CNA campuses that offer truck, transport and heavy equipment related programming. The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) made a generous contribution of $5,000 to College of the North Atlantic as part of their Diesel Tooling Funding initiative on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The funds will go towards the purchase of tooling and equipment requirements at three CNA campuses that offer truck, transport and heavy equipment related programming.
Executive Director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, Jean Marc Picard, was on hand for the formal presentation at CNA’s Prince Philip Drive campus in St. John’s.
“We are pleased to be able to support College of the North Atlantic campuses in Placentia, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Bay St. George with this funding. Providing colleges with the resources they need to upgrade equipment is important to be able to properly train students and ensure they are ready for the job market when they graduate,” said Picard.
“Students will have the immediate confidence to take on their roles and employers will experience the immediate benefits of hiring students who are well trained on the latest equipment in the market. It’s a win-win for all involved.”
The trucking industry is actively recruiting technicians for positions within the Atlantic region. Anna Peddle, CNA’s Manager of Alumni and Advancement, says it’s through the support of donors like APTA that CNA is able to provide students with the resources necessary to complete their training at the highest level.
“We are delighted by the support the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association has shown through this generous donation,” said Peddle. “Not only does this investment show a commitment to the students we train for their industry, but it also reinforces their commitment to College of the North Atlantic and the quality of programming that we have to offer to meet those industry demands.
