The office administration students at Corner Brook campus have been busy little elves this holiday season, going above and beyond to make Christmas a wonderful time for as many people as possible.

The second year students collected $844 for the Red Cross, prepared 46 boxes for Operation Christmas Child, collected $1,181 for the SPCA and provided a family of four in need with eight boxes of food, Christmas dinner, treats and their only Christmas gifts.

“We talk to our students about social and corporate responsibility – giving back to the community that gives to you,” said instructor Joan Parsons. “Under the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) mandate, service learning is applied by planning events, it gives connection to the industry, it provides networking opportunities, and a feeling of pride in the field of office administration.”

The students also participated in the Corner Brook Christmas Parade where their float had “A good ole Newfie Christmas” theme. The class organized volunteers, designed the float and helped build it.

“We have never been so impressed with a group of students who, under their IAPP Chapter, have accomplished so much in such a short period of time,” said instructor Barbara Devereaux.
