College of the North Atlantic hosted the Telegram Postmedia Canspell Spelling Bee in March, where Jennifer Mong was crowned the winner for the second year in a row.

The 12-year-old MacDonald Drive Junior High student went on to win the Canspell National Spelling Bee in Toronto later that month and became one of three Canadians to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States in May, where she made it to the 6th round.
