Sarah Johnstone of Mount Pearl, a 2013 graduate of CNA’s Business Management (Human Resource Management) program, recently received a $10,000 CAD travel voucher as a part of a recent CNA Alumni Reconnect contest. Also pictured are: Marlene Smith, Senior Travel Advisor/Operator at Travel Professionals International (TPI); and Shane Coupland, Atlantic Canada Business Development Manager with Collette Tours; and, Anna Peddle, CNA’s Manager of Alumni and Advancement.

ST JOHN’S, NL – Sarah Johnstone has the world in the palm of her hands since being told she won College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) Alumni Reconnect contest.

The contest was held in partnership with TD Insurance, Travel Professionals International (TPI) and Collette Tours, and is valued at $10,000 CAD.

At first Johnstone wasn’t sure where her travels would lead, but after some consideration, she knows she is ready to go on a journey to witness beautiful and iconic landscapes, take in serene sunrises and sunsets, and most of all, to relax.

In order to take part in the contest, Johnstone, a Mount Pearl native, simply completed a form to update her contact information with CNA’s Office of Alumni and Advancement, as part of her entry into the contest, and shared the post on Facebook. Her name was then selected during a recorded draw as the lucky alumni winner among the thousands of entries received last month.

“I am really excited,” she said, reflecting on when they told her she had won. “I could not control my emotions when I got the call. I wasn’t expecting it at all.”

Johnstone is a 2013 graduate of CNA’s Business Management (Human Resource Management) program, and is currently working as an accounting representative with Munn Insurance. She saw the contest advertisement on Facebook when it was shared by her former CNA classmates several times and it caught her attention.

“It took less than five minutes to enter my contact information. I think this is an amazing reward to connect with the alumni. I am really thankful and looking forward to going on a trip somewhere we would never have gone.”

Johnstone has decided to explore Italy, and plans to indulge in the luxury living of that region, the varied cuisines, and take a close look at awe-inspiring art and vibrant street life in Rome with her boyfriend next spring. She adds that she will also enjoy a good break from her hectic schedule, while watching the sunsets from the turquoise seas along the Almalfi Coast.

“There are a lot of places I have never been, and I have always looked forward to planning a trip. This is a perfect opportunity to go somewhere I can just, relax and enjoy.”

Anna Peddle, CNA’s Manager of the Alumni and Advancement Office, said, “We hope our graduates continue to reconnect with CNA. As an alumni, you can avail of many opportunities to stay engaged with CNA as well as take advantage of the suite of benefits and services offered by the Alumni Office, which are available to every graduate.

“We wish to congratulate Sarah on her win and thank her for signing up to our contest. We welcome her as part of a vibrant CNA alumni community, and look forward to helping her stay connected to all of our alumni!”
